ISCC EU or ISCC PLUS: Which Scheme Is Right for Your Business?
Both schemes sit under ISCC but serve different markets and requirements. Here are the key considerations when choosing.
ISCC EU is designed to meet the requirements of the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED), making it relevant for biofuel and renewable energy supply chains. The scheme includes greenhouse gas emission calculation requirements.
ISCC PLUS is used for markets outside RED regulation, such as food, feed, oleochemicals, and bio-based materials. It is widely requested by global buyers as evidence of supply chain sustainability.
The choice of scheme should be based on the product's target market, buyer requirements, and the chain of custody model to be applied — for example mass balance or segregation. Many companies need both.
